I have a keen interest in of the current social sphere, and the roles trends play in shaping and evolving social networks. As a PR proponent, I aim to work with cultural through its symbols, behaviours, and ideas that dominate social conventions and resonate with the public. By understanding these signifiers, I want to craft images, messages and campaigns and collaborate on ideas that persuasively influence public perception and behaviour.
My name is Francis Okezie and I'm really glad to meet you. I’m a 21-year-old student enrolled at the University of Waterloo, majoring in Communication Arts and Design Practice Studies, disciplined in persuasion and communicative strategies on digital media. I’m student of the world that is heavily invested in working with signs. My professional aspirations are invested in sociability, reflexiveness and strategy in PR through cultural events and community-building intiatives. I enjoy connecting and building great relationships with people from various backgrounds, exploring new music and scenes around the world and I excel at executing social media campaigns regardless of the target population because it isn’t what you say—It’s how you say. I have been honoured to work with Imani Dominique, a curator, visual artist and entrepreneur in the city of Toronto. BlackPOP and The Gift Shop, this experience strengthened my social engagement skills and also gave me the platform to network with Local visual artists, photographers, musicians, poets and other creatives in the industry. My cultural and experential marketing in New York has also exercised my ability to think outside the box and creatively conceptualizing new methods of engagement for people through music, art and event curation. With more oppurtunities to connect, I use this website to showcase my experiential development in multiple cities and spaces in music, fashion, art and entertainment.
I’m working to qualify my skills in: public & press relation, communication strategy, brand partnership, image & art direction, design collaboration, campaign seeding, talent relations, event production, cultural & experiential marketing, marketing research, 360 consultancy, and trend forecasting. Cultural fixations evolve and continuously reshape how we engage with various forms of media, in order to excel in PR, you need to be malleable to ‘now’ by staying on top of trends. I plan on practising my motto through my portfolio!
